The BJP is up in arms, demanding strict punishment for the accused in the death of Krishna Valmiki, a member of the Valmiki community who was brutally attacked in the state's Jhalawar district on July 1. The principal opposition party in Rajasthan has also demanded one crore compensation for the family and a job for one of the dependants of Krishna Valmiki, who had later succumbed to his injuries.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
