
Rabindranath Tagore's mother refused to take him in her arms as he was dark, says Union minister Subhas Sarkar

While speaking at a university on Wednesday, Union minister Subhas Sarkar said, "Rabindranath Tagore was dark-skinned as compared to his family. That is why his mother refused to take him in her arms."
Speaking at a programme at Visva Bharati University in West Bengal on Wednesday, Union minister Subhas Sarkar said that Rabindranath Tagore's mother refused to take him in her arms because he was 'dark'. "Tagore was dark compared to other members of his family. That is why his mother and others refused to take him in their laps," Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar said.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
