The Punjab government released Rs 416 crore in compensation to cotton farmers affected by the pink bollworm attack on Saturday.
The Punjab government has announced the release of a grant worth over Rs 416 crore to compensate cotton farmers and labourers for crop damage caused by the ‘pink bollworm’ attack.
State Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Aruna Chaudhary and Agriculture Minister Randeep Singh Nabha made the announcement at a joint press conference at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh on Saturday.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
