A puncture was discovered in an American Airlines plane in Colombia, according to the carrier.
The airline's team found a “puncture to the exterior” of one of its aircraft in Medellin after a routine inspection, the airline told USA TODAY.
“The aircraft was immediately removed from service for further inspection and repair,” American said in an emailed statement. “We will work closely with all relevant authorities to investigate this incident.”
There were no related flight issues or injuries reported. The airline did not specify when the puncture was discovered or what caused it. The Federal Aviation Administration did not have any information to share about the incident.
Aviation authorities in Colombia did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
