A pesar de la llegada de agentes de inmigración para aliviar el caos, muchos pasajeros aseguran que la situación sigue igual —o peor— en algunos puntos clave del país.

Desde Nueva York hasta Atlanta, el intento del gobierno por reforzar la seguridad y agilizar procesos se enfrenta a una realidad más compleja: escasez de personal, incertidumbre legal y viajeros que sienten que el sistema no responde a la urgencia del momento.

La presencia de agentes del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) en aeropuertos responde a una crisis operativa dentro de la Administración de Seguridad en el Transporte (TSA). La falta de personal —agravada por semanas sin pago debido al cierre parcial del gobierno— ha dejado vacíos críticos en los puntos de control.

Según autoridades federales, hasta uno de cada 10 agentes de TSA ha faltado al trabajo en días recientes. En respuesta, la administración desplegó cientos de agentes de ICE en más de una docena de aeropuertos, incluyendo JFK en Nueva York, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston y Phoenix, con la intención de liberar a oficiales de TSA de tareas secundarias.

Sin embargo, expertos y sindicatos advierten que esta medida puede generar más confusión que soluciones.
