
Puducherry under tight security cover ahead of PM’s visit

Puducherry enforces strict security measures for Prime Minister Modi's visit, restricting vehicular movement along key routes.
The town and adjoining areas of Puducherry have come under a tight security cover for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow along the stretch from Ajantha Theatre Junction to Anna Thidal on Friday.
Around 1,500 personnel from the territorial police, besides those from Central Armed Police Forces, will be deployed for traffic and law and order duty during the Prime Minister’s visit. The traffic police have imposed restrictions on movement of vehicles in several parts of the town.
A police release here said no vehicular traffic would be permitted on the roads forming part of the VVIP route. Movement of all light and heavy motor vehicles will be restricted from Lawspet Airport Road upto Latha Steel House Junction and from Sivaji Statue Junction to Rajiv Gandhi Square on East Coast Road.
All buses, tempos and other vehicles proceeding via Bussy Street should take a U-turn at Cuddalore Road-Venkata Subbiah Reddiar Statue Junction and proceed towards their destinations via Nellithope- Indira Gandhi Square route.
