Puducherry private schools under T.N. Board record 96.90% pass rate in SSLC exams
The 180 private schools in Puducherry and Karaikal, under the Tamil Nadu State Board, have recorded a pass percentage of 96.90% in the SSLC (Class 10) examination held in March/April 2025.
This is the first academic year that the results are being announced separately for private schools (following the Tamil Nadu Board), as all government schools in Puducherry have migrated to the CBSE curriculum. Incidentally, private schools in Mahe and Yanam follow the respective education boards of Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
A press release from the Directorate of School Education said of the 8,267 students — 4,290 boys and 3,977 girls — who appeared for the exams, 8,011 students, including 3,902 girls, passed. The pass rate among boys was 95.78%, while girls recorded a pass percentage of 95.78%.
According to data, private schools in Puducherry region clocked a pass rate of 97.37%, while private schools in Karaikal registered a pass rate of 93.60%.
Overall, the highest pass rate of 98.52% was recorded by girls in private schools in Puducherry.
In all, 113 private schools recorded 100% pass rate — 95 in Puducherry and 18 in Karaikal.
While 320 candidates scored centum across subjects, the highest centum scorers (151) were in social sciences, followed by science (132) and French (24).
