The key accused in the case received a provocative speech on WhatsApp on the evening of April 14. Parts of the chat in Hindi have been accessed by India Today TV.

The key conspirators of the Jahangirpuri riots received provocative speeches for use as tools to instigate violence during Hanuman Jayanti in April this year, the Delhi Police said in its chargesheet filed on Thursday.

The key accused in the case, Tabrez, on the evening of April 14 received a provocative speech on a WhatsApp group of which he was part. Parts of the chat in Hindi have been accessed by India Today TV.

The Delhi Police corroborated the contents of these WhatsApp chats from the statements of other accused and found that these chats were used to instigate rioters to cause violence during the Hanuman Jayanti Yatra. The Delhi Police is currently investigating the admins of these WhatsApp groups. A supplementary chargesheet will likely be filed on the same.

Of the 37 accused named in the chargesheet, the Delhi Police has named four people as key conspirators in the riots Ishrafil, who is still missing, Tabrez, Ansar, and Salim Chikna. The four were a part of the pre-meditated conspiracy, the police have claimed.

Additionally, the key conspirators were also involved in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the protests at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, the police said. The accused also provided transportation during the protests, they added.

Records from transport agencies, collected by the Delhi Police, revealed that vehicles were booked under the names of these key conspirators.
