Bulldozers rolled out on the streets of Kanpur to demolish the properties of miscreants that were involved in the violence that broke out on June 3.
A week after violence erupted in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur over the Prophet remark, bulldozers rolled out on the streets of the city. The properties linked to the miscreants are being bulldozed.
Local Muslim leader Zafar Hayat Hashmi is said to be the main accused of the violence that broke out yesterday. Bulldozers have reached the doors of Zafar Hayat Hashmi’s residence to carry out demolition.
Police and administration are present at the site where demolition drive is being carried out.

Violent clashes and stone-pelting were witnessed in Kanpur on June 3 after a Muslim organisation had called to shut down shops at the Parade Market, one of the biggest wholesale markets in the city, over BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s controversial comments about the Prophet Mohammed during a TV debate.
An eight-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by DCP Sanjeev Tyagi, to probe into the matter. Uttar Pradesh MLC and BJP leader Mohsin Raza claimed that the clashes were pre-planned.
