
Priyanka Chopra mourns Sunil Thapa, recalls how he helped after her father's loss

Actor Priyanka Chopra paid tribute to her Mary Kom co-actor Sunil Thapa, who died in Kathmandu after a cardiac arrest. The actor shared a heartfelt message recalling Thapa's support during her difficult times, especially after she lost her father.
Actor Priyanka Chopra expressed her condolences on Saturday after the death of Sunil Thapa, her co-star and on-screen coach in the film Mary Kom. Sunil, a prominent figure in Nepali and Indian cinema, died in Kathmandu at the age of 68, reportedly following a cardiac arrest.
The actor described the deep connection she shared with Thapa during and after the filming of Mary Kom. She credited Sunil with helping her through one of the most challenging periods in her personal life, specifically after the loss of her father, Ashok Chopra.
In an emotional Instagram note, the 43-year-old wrote, "You will always be my Coach Sir. You kept me together when I had just lost my dad. You loved me and helped me through many tough days without even realising. Your warm hugs and your laugh will always be part of my memories (sic)."
The late actor's role as Narjit Singh, the coach of the protagonist in Mary Kom, was widely recognised and brought him international acclaim.
In her tribute, Priyanka acknowledged Sunil's warmth and kindness, stating, "Gone too young but never forgotten. Thank you for your kindness at a time that I was broken (sic)," she continued.
The Mary Kom lead actor ended her note by saying, "Rest in peace Sunil Thapa. My condolences and prayers are with the family and loved ones (sic)."
