Private firms allowed to partner up with DRDO in missile development, production

The DRDO has allowed private firms to partner up with it for missile development and production.

Seeking to help the domestic industry to develop complex military hardware, the DRDO has allowed private sector firms to partner up with it in development and production of missile systems indigenously. “Under the Development-cum-Production Partner programme, private firms have been allowed to forge partnership with the DRDO to develop and produce missile systems,” top DRDO officials told India Today TV. One of the first missile programmes opened for the private sector under the DCPP project includes the Vertical Launched Short Range Surface to Air Missile system (VL-SRSAM), they said. Private firms have already started submitting their bids for the project to the premier defence research agency for participation, they said.
