The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government has decided to knock on the Supreme Court’s doors after the Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI probe into rape and murder cases related to alleged post-poll violence.
The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government has decided to knock on the Supreme Court’s doors after the Calcutta High Court refused to grant it any relief in the post-poll violence case. A five-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court, headed by Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, on Thursday ordered a CBI probe into alleged rape and murder cases and directed the formation of an SIT to look into other offences related to the reports of violence in parts of West Bengal following the declaration of Assembly election results on May 2.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
