Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi called the Popular Front of India “a dangerous organisation” that is trying to “destabilise the country”.
Speaking at a book launch event on Friday, Governor RN Ravi said,"PFI takes up the mask as human rights, rehabilitation, student groups, political parties. (But) the sole aim of PFI is to destabilise the country."
Governor Ravi made the statement during the book launch of “The Lurking Hydra: South Asia’s Terror Travail”.
Meanwhile, PFI's state president Mohamed Shaik Ansari accused the Tamil Nadu Governor of trying to instigate violence.
"Governor Ravi is acting as RSS' mouthpiece and an agent of the BJP. He is trying to instigate violence. Without proof, allegations are made against PFI. If there is any proof, let them show. I dare to say that he is an RSS mouthpiece," Shaik Ansari said.
Ansari further added, " The governor has a lot of protection of law. We can’t go for defamation right away. But we are discussing different legal options."
Following the Governor’s remark, the PFI is set to stage a mega protest near the Raj Bhavan on May 7.
