
‘Political vendetta’: Tamil Nadu BJP targets Stalin govt over raids on former AIADMK ministers

Days after raids were conducted on properties of former AIADMK ministers SP Velumani and MR Vijayabaskar, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Thursday called it a “political vendetta” by the MK Stalin government of the DMK.
Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai on Thursday came out in defence of the former ministers belonging to ally AIADMK over raids conducted by vigilance and anti-corruption units. Annamalai called the raids a “political vendetta” by the MK Stalin government of the DMK, which defeated the AIADMK in the assembly election earlier this year. He was reacting to the raids conducted on properties of former AIADMK ministers SP Velumani and MR Vijayabaskar. On August 10, the Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted raids on former Tamil Nadu minister SP Velumani's residence at Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
