Podi land campaign gains traction in Mandya

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Saturday said that in 414 cases pertaining to the ‘podi’ land, as many as 271 had been solved within a week in Mandya district. This is a significant step under the ‘podi’ campaign launched in the district and RTCs and ‘podi’ records were being distributed after clearing the cases, he added.

The Minister was speaking after launching a ‘podi campaign’ in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district.

For various reasons in the past, only 100 ‘podi’ cases were being addressed in a year. This process has been simplified via collating the documents and digitising the records. The works in the Revenue Department had been stepped up. “The services are taken to the doorsteps of the people, streamlining the activities in the department, by the government,” Mr. Gowda told the audience during the launch.

The State-level campaign had been launched to address the pendency of the cases pertaining to ‘podi’ land. The works, including the survey, that used to be carried out in five steps, are now being carried out in two steps due to the simplification of online procedures. The old cases of ‘podi’ land are being cleared in tahsildar and the assistant commissioners’ courts. This has led to the drop in the pendency of cases, he informed.

The Minister said the Deputy Commissioner of Mandya has been handling the cases responsibly under the ‘Pouthi Kathe’ campaign, and related works and services are being taken care of by the district administration.

The ‘podi’ land cases that were as old as 46 years in the Revenue Department are being solved now. In Mandya district alone, ‘podi’ land cases of over 30,000 farmers who got land from the government or the cases related to the government land, had not been solved. Such cases are being looked into now.

The target fixed for ‘Darakasthu Podi’ in Mandya district is 3,281 cases. Among the cases, surveys had been carried out in 414 cases, and 271 people were receiving RTCs. The remaining survey work will be done in the next six months, he added.
