Amid rising covid cases and the growing threat of the new variant, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formulated some strict guidelines for people to follow. These rules are especially made to control gathering and the spread of the virus during New Year.
The BMC has banned any New Year celebration programmes and gatherings in any closed or open areas in the city. A night curfew has also been implemented along with a few other rules.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
