Unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a temple in Ranchi on Friday night, hours after violent protests broke out in the city over a BJP leader’s inflammatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
After violent protests raged in Jharkhand’s Ranchi on Friday, unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a temple in the city later that night, police said.
The attack took place around midnight. The priest of Surya Mandir and his family were asleep on the temple premises when four petrol bombs were hurled inside. They immediately informed the police, but by the time the cops arrived, the miscreants had fled the spot.
The priest and his family were completely shaken by the attack and said they have been unable to sleep since last night.
Police said an investigation is underway to identify and nab the culprits.
The attack on the temple came hours after an irate mob swept through parts of Ranchi to protest against the controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad made by BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
