
Passengers from South Africa to undergo quarantine, testing at Mumbai airport: Mayor

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar announced on Saturday that all those coming to the city from South Africa will be tested and quarantined on account of the new coronavirus variant, Omicron.
Kishori Pednekar, Mayor of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in Mumbai, announced on Saturday that all those coming to the city from South Africa will be tested and quarantined on account of the new coronavirus variant named Omicron that has been detected in South Africa, Botswana, Hong Kong and Israel.
Some of the samples will also be sent for genome sequencing to check if the passengers are carrying the new coronavirus variant.
