
Passengers flying to Mumbai from other Maharashtra airports don't need RT-PCR test anymore

The news comes amid the Maharashtra government’s decision to extend lockdown in the states despite the declining numbers of fresh cases.
Domestic passengers arriving at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport from airports within Maharashtra have been exempted from RT-PCR test upon landing in the city. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in an order issued on Monday that Mumbai airport authorities and airlines will not insist on passengers undergoing the RT-PCR test, which is a quickfire way to determine if a person is Covid-positive. The new directive is effective immediately. “All domestic air passengers originating from airports located within Maharashtra to Mumbai are exempted from RT-PCR test requirement upon landing in Mumbai. All domestic air passengers traveling from Mumbai airport to airports located within Maharashtra, airport operator / airlines shall not insist on RT-PCR test,” read the new directive.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
