P Chidambaram, Rajeev Shukla among 10 nominees on Congress's Rajya Sabha list

The Congress party revealed names of 10 leaders for Rajya Sabha seats in seven states. Top party leaders like P Chidambaram, Rajeev Shukla, Randeep Surjewala and Ajay Maken among others nominated.
The Congress on Sunday, May 29, released a list of 10 candidates for elections to the Rajya Sabha. The list includes names of top party leaders like former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Ajay Maken and Jairam Ramesh.
Issuing a press statement, the party revealed the names of 10 leaders for Rajya Sabha seats in seven states.
Pramod Tiwari - a Brahmin face from UP, was made a candidate from Rajasthan. While, Imran Pratapgarhi, a minority face from UP, is a candidate from Maharashtra. Ranjeet Ranjan, who hails from Bihar, is the only woman candidate to be named. She will be contesting from Chattisgarh.

Gulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma did not find a place in the list.
For the two seats in Chhattisgarh, Rajeev Shukla and Ranjeet Ranjan have been named. For Haryana, the party has named Ajay Maken, Jairam Ramesh for Karnataka, Vivek Tankha for Madhya Pradesh, P Chidambaram for Tamil Nadu and Imran Pratapgarhi for the Maharashtra seat.
On May 12, the Election Commission announced that polling for 57 Rajya Sabha seats in 15 seats will take place on June 10.
