An encounter that broke out on Saturday night in Kashmir’s Shopian continued till Sunday morning. One terrorist has been killed in the encounter and it is yet to ascertained if it is top Jaish commander Sajad Aghani, who was believed to be trapped during the gunbattle. Top Jaish commander Sajad Afghani, who has been active since 2018, was believed to be trapped in the encounter. All entry and exit points were sealed as the operation went on since Saturday night in Rawalpora of Shopian. A number of arms and ammunition along with a cash amount of Rs 9,600 was recovered in the joint operation of the Army and other security forces.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
