Over 43,000 students in Kozhikode district to take Class X exams starting March 3, with 206 exam centres.
As many as 43,904 students from the Kozhikode district will appear for the Class X exams that will begin on March 3.
The exams will start with the Malayalam paper and end with the Biology paper on March 26. According to official sources, Vadakara educational district has the highest number of students appearing for it: 16,022. Kozhikode educational district has 12,688 students and Thamarassery 15,194. Seven private students too are writing the exams this time.
There are 206 exam centres in the district. Thamarassery educational district has 72, Kozhikode 70, and Vadakara 64. Chakkalakkal Higher School, Madavoor, which is in the Thamarassery educational district, has 1,067 students. Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Parayancheri, has only six students writing the exams. Around 3,000 teachers have deployed for the exam duty. Special squads have also been formed to check malpractices.
Meanwhile, a section of teachers have opposed the plan to deploy lower primary (LP) and (UP) upper primary school teachers as invigilators for Class X and higher secondary exam duty. Both LP and UP sections have academic sessions till March 17. School teachers unions such as the Kerala Pradesh School Teachers Association pointed out that if teachers from these sections are sent for the exam duty, it would affect their own work. Some of the teachers were also not able to complete their portions in the syllabus. Exams are to be conducted for their own students as well. The union leaders said that some teachers had been asked to report at the Class x and higher secondary exam centres that are far away. It has also been claimed that some high school and higher secondary school teachers had managed to evade the exam duty using their political influence and those from LP and UP schools are being asked to replace them.
