
Organs of 11-year-old boy harvested at GRH

MADURAI
Organs were harvested from a 11-year-old boy who was declared brain dead at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here on Friday.
S. Sabarish of Arupukottai in Virudhunagar was hit by a private bus on Wednesday, while he was travelling pillion on a two-wheeler. He suffered serious injuries.
He was rushed to the Government Hospital in Arupukottai and then to a private hospital in Madurai. Later, he was referred to GRH.
He died at the hospital despite receiving treatment. After the doctors declared him brain dead, his father expressed his willingness to donate his son’s organs.
Following this, his organs were harvested. His liver was taken to Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College Hospital, one of the kidneys to GRH and the other one to Apollo Hospital, Madurai. His cornea was kept at GRH.

CanBridge Academy provides life skill training to young adults with autism. And ABWA promotes “expression of natural art in children with special needs”.
