
Opposition UDF boycotts Governor's address in Kerala assembly

Kerala governor, Arif Mohammad Khan, was met with slogans of ‘go back’ upon reaching the Assembly on Friday, February 18, for the policy address, marking the beginning of the annual Budget session.
On Friday, February 18, Kerala governor, Arif Mohammad Khan reached the Kerala Assembly for the policy address that marks the beginning of the annual Budget session.
The Opposition UDF boycotted the governor’s address. Arif Mohammad Khan, who has issues with both the ruling and opposition parties in Kerala, was welcomed with slogans of ‘go back’ and banners of the same from the opposition.
This greatly irked the governor and when opposition leader VD Satheeshan sought permission to speak, the governor expressed his severe displeasure.
Opposition leader VD Satheeshan alleged that the Governor was Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) agent in Kerala.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
