
Opposition-less govt in Nagaland: NPF decides to support ruling PDA coalition

Nagaland is headed for an all-party government with the main opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) deciding to work together with the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in the larger interest of the Naga People.
In a major political move, Nagaland’s main opposition party, the Naga People’s Front (NPF), has decided to support the ruling coalition in the state. The NPF, which is the single largest party with 25 MLAs in the 60 member state assembly, has announced it wants to join the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio-led People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
