
Only 10% women have driving license in Agra division: Transport Department

Only 10 per cent of women have their driving license in the Agra division, the transport department said.
Around 25 per cent of the vehicles are registered in the name of women every year in the Agra division including Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, and Mainpuri districts. However, only 10 per cent of women got their driving license in the Agra division, a senior official of the transport department said.
"Every year about 60,000 to 65,000 driving licenses are made in Agra and women are far behind men in getting licenses. About 25 per cent of the vehicles registered every year are registered in the name of women. However, only 10 per cent of women get driving license," Anil Sharma, Regional Transport Officer of Agra division said.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
