Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP and reacted sharply to the trampling incident that occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. Allegedly, Ashish Mishra, son of BJP leader and Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Mishra, ran his car over protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri’s Tikunia. The incident, which killed two farmers, happened when Ashish Mishra was going to receive UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, who was visiting Tikunia to attend an event.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
