On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh posted a cartoon on Twitter to attack West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The cartoon depicts a protest against Urdu at a school in North Bengal several years ago. It suggests that the Mamata Banerjee-led state government has forced Urdu language on West Bengal. It also claims that ‘Joy Bangla’, a slogan mostly used in Bangladesh, is now said in West Bengal too.
Mamata Banerjee has been accused of pushing the agenda for the creation of ‘Greater Bangladesh’, a nation-state that includes Bangladesh, Tripura, Assam and West Bengal.
The TMC has not yet responded to the BJP’s allegations.
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee will participate in a programme to celebrate language day on Monday.
