An old photograph of Droupadi Murmu tying a Rakhi to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has emerged as he extended his support for Murmu's Presidential candidature.
Amidst ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik throwing his support to NDA’s Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu, an old photograph in which Murmu is seen tying a Rakhi to Patnaik has emerged.
Back in the year 2000, Murmu was the MLA from the BJP and both Biju Janata Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were alliance partners.
Murmu was elected MLA twice from the Rairangpur constituency of Mayurbhanj (2000 and 2009) on the BJP’s ticket.
After the BJP-led NDA announced Droupadi Murmu as their Presidential candidate, taking to Twitter, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik said, “I appeal all members of Odisha Legislative Assembly, cutting across party lines, to extend unanimous support to elect the daughter of Odisha- Draupadi Murmu to the country’s highest office.”

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
