Officials inspect SIR works in Madurai
Roll Observer and Director of the National Health Mission, Tamil Nadu, A. Arun Thamburaj, along with District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar, conducted a review meeting here on Thursday with the officials regarding the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls – 2026.
During the meeting, Mr. Arun Thamburaj, instructed the officials that the applications related to Form 6 must be resolved on a daily basis without any pendency.
“The rejection of Form 6 (New Voter Inclusion) must be handled with extreme care and should only be done based on proper inquiry and evidence. All correction works must be properly audited through Deputy Tahsildar (Elections),” he added.
Quality must be ensured in the disposal of applications and in cases where discrepancies are found, decisions should be taken only after issuing proper notices and obtaining valid explanations, he noted.
He directed the election officials to work in coordination to ensure that the electoral roll is prepared comprehensively and without errors.
Further, he along with the Madurai District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar carried out field verification of forms received regarding the inclusion of names, corrections, and transfers in the electoral rolls in various areas, including Villapuram under Thirupparankundram Assembly Constituency, Munichalai and Kamarajar Salai under Madurai South Constituency, Valluvar Colony under Madurai North Constituency, and Muthamizh Nagar and Kosakulam Pandian Nagar under Madurai East Constituency.
