'Nusrat Jahan, Mimi Chakraborty looting party': TMC leader’s comment sparks row

In a video, TMC leader Srikanta Mahata can be heard hitting out at his party leaders. Mahata allegedly said that leaders like Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty are “looting” the party.

Srikanta Mahata has alleged that leaders like Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat Jahan, June Malia, Saayoni Ghosh, Sayantika Banerjee are “looting” money. In a video that has gone viral, Srikanta Mahata can be heard attacking several top leaders of the Trinamool Congress.

“We have to plan accordingly to save our citizenship. If needed, we should give deputation to the BDO, police and other officials, ask them whether we have citizenship or not. To save our citizenship, the intellectual society, farmers are fighting. And if needed, we can go to Mamata Banerjee,” the TMC leader said be heard saying in the video.

“Earlier, we also tried to make Abhishek Banerjee, Subrata Bakshi understand. But they did not want to understand. They are identifying bad people as good fellow. How can we survive then? They should say bad people are bad people. Starting from Mahadev to Sandhya Roy, June Malia, Sayani, Sayantika, Mimi, Nusrat. If they become assets for the party, then we cannot be a part of this party anymore,” Srikanta Mahata said.

He further said, “If these leaders become assets for the party by looting money, we don’t want to remain a minister. People are saying all ministers of this cabinet are thieves. Party will listen to those thieves only. We have to look out for new ways. We have to build a movement against it”.

Mahata’s controversial remarks surfaced in the backdrop of Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and TMC strongman Anubrata Mondal being arrested by central agencies in corruption cases.
