‘Not a day for such comments’: Himachal CM on Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks on former president

On former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s recent remarks on former President Ram Nath Kovind, Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said it was not a day for such comments.

Congratulating President Droupadi Murmu on assuming office, Thakur said, “What Mufti did was wrong. This is not a day for such comments. She should have congratulated Droupadi Murmu instead of speaking like that. And I oppose a mindset like that.”

Just before Droupadi Murmu was sworn in as the President of India on Monday, Mufti took to Twitter to slam the former President, Ram Nath Kovind.
She wrote, “The outgoing President leaves behind a legacy where the Indian Constitution was trampled upon umpteenth times. Be it scrapping of Article 370,CAA or the unabashed targeting of minorities & Dalits, he fulfilled BJPs political agenda all at the cost of the Indian Constitution.”
