Norm violation, says BJP after TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee brings 15-car convoy to Bengal Assembly

BJP MLA and NDA representative Sudip Mukherjee registered the complaint. In the letter, Mukherjee wrote, “Banerjee entered the Assembly premises with a 15-car convoy.”

Mukherjee claimed that Banerjee had violated laws imposed by the EC.

BJP MLA Sudip Mukherjee said, "As per the rules of the Election Commission, MLAs and MPs can enter with their car and a driver only. In fact, no security is allowed. Entry was from only one gate, but Abhishek Banerjee violated the norm by entering with 15 vehicles via the north gate."

Elections to choose the 15th President of India were held on Monday. It was a contest between NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu and the Opposition's Yashwant Sinha. Nearly 4,800 elected MPs and MLAs across the country cast their vote through secret ballot. Counting of votes will take place at Parliament House on July 21 and the next President will take oath on July 25.
