No legislative jurisdiction over content of Internet games: Centre in Lok Sabha
India Today
The reply from the Centre to Lok Sabha was in response to a query from MPs Sumedhanand Saraswati and Ranjeeta Koli, who asked whether the government was aware of the availability of a large number of games on the Internet which were wasting the time of youth.
The central government on Wednesday said that it does not have legislative jurisdiction over the content of Internet games.
However, it also said that it can only order blocking of public access to information on the Internet under specified conditions of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and following the due process, specified in the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information by Public) Rules, 2009.
