
NIA intensifies investigation into ULFA’s recruitment drive, in touch with local police in Assam

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) intensified its investigation into the recruitment drive carried out by the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). As per the report, apart from Assam, ULFA is also recruiting youth in Delhi-NCR.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) intensified its investigation into the recruitment drive carried out by the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). NIA teams are in touch with local police in Assam's Dibrugarh, Chapakhowa and Sivsagar districts.
The investigative agency is also in touch with the local people of the area.
A senior NIA official said that the agency is now trying to get the details of youth who have joined the outfit in the recent past. Many of the newly joined youth have already started training for the ULFA base campaign in Myanmar.
The NIA had recently taken over the case to investigate Ulfa's recruitment drive following directives from the Union Home Ministry.
According to the intelligence report, apart from Assam, ULFA is also recruiting youth in Delhi and NCR.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
