Karnataka's Power Minister Sunil Kumar was allocated the portfolio last week. He caught attention for refusing to receive flowers and shawls as a welcome gift. He was soon gifted hundreds of Kannada books instead.
Karnataka's Power Minister Sunil Kumar on Monday received an unusual welcome in his Karkala constituency in the Udupi district that he visited for the first time after taking oath as minister. He was gifted hundreds of books written in Kannada. And, this happened on a cue that he gave himself. His visit to Karakala coincided with the National Book Lovers Day (August 9). Sunil Kumar was welcomed with hundreds of bouquets of flowers and shawls. But he was not pleased with this welcome.More Related News

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
