Needless, unconstitutional: Mizoram slams Assam govt order on mandatory checking of incoming vehicles

Mizoram on Friday termed the Assam government's order prescribing mandatory checking of all vehicles entering Mizoram through Assam as 'unnecessary and unconstitutional'.

The Mizoram government on Friday slammed the Himanta Biswa Sarma government in Assam over its recent order enforcing mandatory checking of all vehicles entering Assam from the neighbouring state. Terming the decision as "needless and unconstitutional", the Mizoram home department in a statement said the step would only create "unnecessary problems and hardships for the innocent citizens of the country" travelling to Assam from Mizoram.
