The operation, conducted between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., involved clearing 93.38 tonnes of general waste and 65.78 tonnes of construction debris, according to a press release. Additionally, 666 overgrown bushes and weeds were removed to enhance sanitation and accessibility at these sites, the release said.
“Stagnant water was eliminated to prevent mosquito breeding, and hazardous tree stumps were cleared. Waste bins and other sanitation facilities were repaired or replaced,” the release said.
The initiative follows an extensive campaign conducted between August 21 and December 30, 2024. Further, a total of 5,900 tonnes of waste was removed daily across 15 zones. The drive included clearing streets, pavements, and public spaces, ensuring safer and cleaner environments for residents.
