Nagavathi reservoir in Dharmapuri opened for irrigation

The sluice gates of Nagavathi dam in Dharmapuri was opened for irrigation, releasing 117.91 mcft to support local farming.
The sluice gates of Nagavathi dam was opened for irrigation for the second cropping season at Errapatti village in Pennagaram block here on Monday.
A total quantum of 117.91 mcft will be released for a period of 100 days, which will include five days each for two zones alternatively followed by five break days.
The water will irrigate 1,993 acres in the ayacut areas of Aragasanahalli, Sinnampalli, and Perubalai villages in Pennagaram block
The quantum of water released will take into account the current water level in the reservoir and the need of the farmers. Earlier, opening the sluice gates of the reservoir to release the waters for irrigation, Collector R. Sadheesh urged farmers to use the water judiciously and help the Public Works Department apportion the waters as per the schedule.
