The Muslim man was beaten up and paraded by the mob in Kanpur despite police presence. He is accused of forcing a Hindu woman to convert into Islam.
A Muslim in Kanpur was beaten up on a public road by a mob belonging to the Bajrang Dal over allegations of forced religious conversion. The mob beat up the man, identified as Aftar Ahmad, and forced him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram'. : , , #UttarPradesh #UPPolice pic.twitter.com/NLSicpNOCw This happened even as the police looked on. The mob later handed Aftar to the police but continued assaulting him as the cops were taking him away.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
