Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus illuminates as ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gaadi aur Stations’ celebrations begin

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus was illuminated with tri-colour lights as the 'Azadi Ki Rail Gaadi aur Stations' celebrations commenced on Monday.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai was illuminated with tri-colour lights as the 'Azadi Ki Rail Gaadi aur Stations' celebrations commenced on Monday. The initiative was taken as a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations which marks 75 years of Independence and the glorious history of the country's people, culture, and achievements.

Indian Railways is also celebrating the iconic week of 'Azadi ki Rail Gadi aur Stations' at 75 stations and 27 trains from 18 to 23 July. These specific trains and stations mark important places and events which are associated with the glorious history of India’s struggle for freedom.

Anant Laxman Gurav and Motilal Shankar Ghongade, both Freedom fighters and families of 7 more freedom fighters, flagged off the historic Punjab Mail in the presence of Anil Kumar Lahoti, General Manager, Central Railway, Shalabh Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division.

Central Railway took to Twitter and wrote in Hindi which could be translated as, "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations- "Azadi Ki Rail Train and Station" - The prestigious Punjab Mail was flagged off by the freedom fighters and family members of the Central Railway." (sic)
