A special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Mumbai has sentenced a man to three years in prison for molesting a minor on a Mumbai local in 2019. According to the prosecution case, on December 5, 2019, a 16-year-old girl was on Platform 4 of Vile Parle Railway Station and was getting into the ladies compartment of a local train at around 10:30 am when the accused, Devidas Daulat More, held her from behind and molested her. Seeing the girl petrified, several co-passengers and policemen came to the girl and inquired, after which the 30-year-old accused was immediately arrested and a case was registered at Andheri Railway Station.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
