
Mumbai court declares former police chief Param Bir Singh a proclaimed offender

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has been declared a "proclaimed offender" by a magistrate court in Mumbai.
Acting on an application filed by the Mumbai Police, a magistrate court in Mumbai on Wednesday declared former city Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh a "proclaimed offender".
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch, which is investigating the Goregaon extortion case against Param Bir Singh, had moved an application before the court of Magistrate Sudhir Bhajipale seeking that the former police chief be declared a proclaimed offender.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
