
Mukul Goel takes charge as Uttar Pradesh DGP

Mukul Goel took charge as the new director general of police (DGP) on Friday. He replaced Hitesh Chandra Awasthi who retired from service on June 30.
After declining the offer for an extension of his tenure, Uttar Pradesh DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi retired from service on June 30. Mukul Goel on Friday took charge as the new police chief of Uttar Pradesh. HC Awasthi handed over his charge to Mukul Goel at a simple function at police headquarters.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
