
More than 500 armed forces' medical personnel deployed in Covid facilities for civilians

More than 500 military medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, have been mobilised around the country to assist overworked health workers during the second wave of Covid-19.
In a bid to bridge the gap of medical manpower falling short of the treatment of unabated surge in the Covid-19 patients in the country, more than 500 medical personnel from the armed forces including doctors, nursing staff and paramedics have already been deployed. However, the number of such centres need to be increased. According to sources, while military hospitals are overcrowded with patients that include serving personnel and their dependents, it is difficult to free up more hands for civil duties.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
