More than 150 booked in MP’s Neemuch for calling Narottam Mishra a terrorist

Madhya Pradesh Police have booked more than 150 people for raising slogans against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and calling Home Minister Narottam Mishra a terrorist.

Madhya Pradesh Police have booked more than 150 people for raising slogans against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and calling Home Minister Narottam Mishra a terrorist during protests in Neemuch.

Of those charged under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, 11 accused have been named, while the rest are unidentified.

Police said that following the clashes in the state’s Khargone on Ram Navami, members of MIC Neemuch showed up in strength at the office of the District Superintendant of Police to submit a memorandum.

The reportedly 200-strong crowd of MIC members staged a protest outside the SP office, during which allegedly provocative slogans were raised against CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Some also referred to Narottam Mishra as a terrorist.

Videos of the objectionable sloganeering went viral on social media, after which police registered a case. More than 150 people were booked under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) for violating prohibitive orders under section 144 of the CrPC.

“Apart from this, action has been taken to get the bond filled by these people so they do not repeat this. We are also monitoring social media platforms to ensure no one posts such objectionable content. We appeal to all to celebrate their respective festivals with joy but refrain from posting inflammatory or objectionable posts,” Neemuch SP Suraj Verma told India Today.
