The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has written to Home Minister Amit Shah seeking the removal of loudspeakers from mosques.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah demanding the removal of loudspeakers from mosques. They also the intervention of the Supreme Court in the matter.
Earlier, MNS chief Raj Thackeray had given an ultimatum to the Maharashtra government and reiterated his demand that loudspeakers from mosques be removed. He has asked the government to act before May 3.
Speaking at a public rally in Thane on Tuesday, Raj Thackeray said that if the Shiv Sena-led state government did not remove loudspeakers from mosques before May 3, MNS workers will play Hanuman Chalisa in front of mosques.
Earlier this month, Raj Thackeray had announced that the state government should remove all loudspeakers from mosques, claiming that they caused a nuisance to others. He had said that he wasn't against any prayer, but people should follow their faith at their respective residences and not cause trouble to others.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
