A minor in Bengaluru is detained for fatally stabbing a woman and her brother over a family dispute.
A 16-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a woman and her brother to death following a dispute linked to an alleged extramarital relationship in northwest Bengaluru on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Yamuna (36), her younger brother Sudeep (34). The accused is the minor son of a woman named Chaya, with whom Yamuna’s husband, Malle Gowda, was reportedly in a relationship.
According to a complaint filed by Mr. Gowda, he had earlier lent ₹2 lakh to Ms. Chaya, which she repaid recently. However, suspicion and frequent quarrels persisted within his family over his alleged relationship with her.
About three months ago, both families had a confrontation, which was later settled, and a complaint had also been lodged at the Byadarahalli police station in January.
On the morning of March 26, Ms. Yamuna reportedly left home along with her brother Mr. Sudeep to confront Ms. Chaya at her residence near Peenya. The police said a heated argument broke out between the two sides.
During the altercation, Ms. Chaya’s 16-year-old son allegedly attacked Ms. Yamuna and Mr. Sudeep with a knife. Both victims succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

The much-anticipated Special Cabinet meeting to iron out differences over internal reservation among 101 Scheduled Castes, which was to be held on Friday, has been postponed to beyond April 9. The decision came after Advocate-General Shashi Kiran Shetty advised that any decision to be taken would be in violation of the model code of conduct (MCC) in place due to byelections to the Bagalkot and Davangere South Assembly seats to be held on April 9.
