Veteran actors Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Chunky Panday and Manoj Tiwari, who is also a sitting BJP MP, have been named in a cheating case filed in connection with an investment firm that allegedly defrauded its investors of several hundred crore rupees.
The FIR was filed in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur after a local court's order. The actors named in the case were purportedly involved in the endorsement of Ghaziabad-based company Maxizone Touch Private Limited.
The firm had allegedly promised people a hefty return upon investing in it. However, when the company failed to pay the assured interest and principal amount, the investors approached the court.
On Friday, the Jamshedpur court ordered that provisions related to cheating, criminal conspiracy, and other offences be invoked against the aforementioned celebrities.
Others have also been named in the case. The complainant has alleged that the actors were responsible for luring unsuspecting people towards the scheme with promises of 15 per cent monthly interest.
The complainant had invested over 30 lakh rupees in the company. The firm, on the other hand, has claimed that it lost the investors' money as a result of huge financial losses.
