A young man in Bihar’s Sitagarhi district was stabbed multiple times by a group of men for allegedly watching a video of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who kicked off a massive row over her remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
Police, however, claimed the attack that took place four days ago was motivated by personal enmity. An FIR was lodged in the case but it makes no mention of Nupur Sharma. Two people have been arrested in the case, while two others are absconding, police said.
The victim, identified as Ankit Jha of Bahera village, is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Darbhanga. His condition was said to be critical.

In his statement, Ankit Jha claimed he was watching a video of Nupur Sharma on his mobile phone at a paan shop when four men, led by one Mohammad Bilal, came up to him. Jha said they got angry because he was watching the BJP leader’s video. They abused him before allegedly stabbing him six times in the waist with a knife.
On the other hand, DSP Vinod Kumar said that two friends were eating paan at the paan shop when an argument broke out between them over cannabis that was also sold at the shop. This led to the stabbing.
Ankit Jha’s family has asserted that he was attacked over the video of Nupur Sharma. His father, Manoj Jha, stated that along with Mohammad Bilal, five more people have been named as accused in the case.
